Photon Sanitizing System (PSS) is a chemical free, non intrusive, low intensity sanitizing method now available for various applications. PSS is a chemical free, advanced oxidation technology utilizing ultraviolet light rays in a safe, low level energy field. The resulting non penetrating ionization UV radiation in an oxidizing atmosphere is a very effective and safe sanitizing system. PSS has no detrimental effects on product stability, leaves no residue, requires no expensive additives, it has no threshold limits and produces no toxic by-products. It is relatively inexpensive compared to the benefits produced and the technique is totally effective.

We have just released the third generation Photon Barrel Light. The new system is now 210% stronger than the previous model and now has the ability to sanitize wine barrels in 2.5mins. The output is higher, the tube is stronger and the life expectancy of the tube is now over 140,000 barrels before a change of tube is required. Cool Room and Cellar Treatment

This installation of fitting the Photon Sanitizing between air handlers and the wall has been effectively working in the USA cleaning the air prior to the air passing through the condenser preventing mould and bacteria build up in the condenser. This method of installation allows the air handler to work more efficiently plus distributes clean air though out the cellar reducing mould spores being spread though the air and onto barrels and wall in the cellar plus making it a safer and cleaner environment for staff to work in.

In Cool Rooms

Click here to view successful results of a 7 day cool room trial. It clearly shows that there is a need for the photon lights in cool rooms to contain the microbial loads. The air samples in the packing facility are high with reading from TNTC to 404 CFU/100L of air and are lowered to levels below 10CFU/100L once exposed to the photon lights within a matter of days.

The Photon Sanitizing System (PSS) when fitted to cool room reduces expensive cleaning times, the use of chemicals and eliminates the risk of tainting fruit under existing sanitizing programs.

Oranges that are exposed to high intensity PSS in cool rooms are held in static form as the natural ageing of the orange and the release of natural gasses dramatically reduced. This gives clients the opportunity to store citrus for long periods of time without losing quality and select the optimum time to enter the fruit into the market ensuring best possible return.

A 105 day trial was conducted in a very contaminated room in USA where the walls varied from brick to a white cool room style material, roof was timber and floor was concrete but cracked exposing a cork compound below. The intense PSS was installed and regular samples taken over the 105 day trial. The results showed the system took control of the air and the surface very quickly and maintained extremely low CFU levels in both air and surface counts. The sensory results showed the potent mould smell disappeared and a clear fresh smell was apparent with the smell of timber from the roof being present mid way through the trial. In Cellars

The results of a treatment trial and verification study show that the photon-ionization technology is effective in the destruction of stationary Brettanomyces yeast as follows:

  • At exposure times of 7.5 hours and above;
  • Up to a treatment distance of 4 metres from the photon-ionization lamps;
  • Between relative humidity levels of 57.5% and 87.0%; and
  • When the culture is exposed to reflected, rather than direct, radiation"

In Bottling Lines

PSS has been tested in bottling lines in Australia. Lights were placed around the filler head and rinsing head of the bottling line enclosure and operated when the line was working. Under test conditions the lights were used one week on and one week of to measure any differences. The results concluded with of lower surface CFU, lower bacteria and yeast counts in the finished product and a substantial reduction in air borne CFU. Lights can be fitted into air handlers which will lower air CFU to below 10CFU/100lt of air eliminating the risk of contamination throughout the entire room.

Stainless steel tank sanitizing

By placing a single light in the top of a tank will destroy all micro organisms inside the tank after it has been cleaned which eliminates the toxic sanitizers that are currently used. This chemical free system is fast and can also be used prior to wine being pumped into tanks which have been sanitized several hours or days or months prior and eliminates the risk of contaminating the wine. Using this system in tanks around the bottling lines ensure at all time that contamination to the valuable wine does not happen.

PSS is a chemical-free, non intrusive, advanced sanitizing system. It differs from any other light in the UV range as the non-direct light is equally affective on the DNA as the direct light, the light has been tested at 87% humidity and in one location operating at 92% which is something the all other UV lights cannot do and the sub-atomic particles do penetrate another surface like other UV light hence it is very suitable to be installed in bottling lines where people are working and the particles that bounce aggressively within the enclosure are completely safe to humans who are on the outside of the enclosure.
